Saturday, April 16th will be more extraordinary than ever! Join Miami Beach City Mayor Matti Bower, your friends, family and allies for the 3rd annual Miami Beach Gay PRIDE parade and festival. It's a celebration of the extraordinary strength, beauty and contributions of South Florida's LGBT community, and an exciting all-day event featuring a parade, a Festival with exciting celebrity presentations and musical performances, and an Expo with LGBT-friendly vendors and businesses, refreshments and food, and a family-friendly playzone. The parade will be led by Andy Cohen, Bravo's Executive Vice President of Original Programming and Development.
Last year's pride event brought out over 35,000 people from all walks of life and cities from across Florida-- and across the world-- making Miami Beach Gay Pride the city's largest one-day event. This year is sure to be even better. Mark your calendar. Tell all your friends. And make plans now to march, dance, party, come out and make history with us at our 3rd annual LGBT pride celebration, our day to celebrate, stand united and proud.
THE LATIN STAGE
This year, new to the Pride event is the Latin Stage, of which Genre Latino is one of its proud sponsors. The official Latin Stage was developed as the brain child of Ivan Cano, general manager of Palace Bar and Pride board member. Having volunteered and participated in the first two events, it became clear to Ivan that something needed to be done to provide entertainment targeted to the rich and diverse Latin community that attends the Pride, and to energize a younger Latin population and empower them to be a part of the community. The Latin Stage will be right on Ocean Drive and 12th Street and will feature a dance floor with DJ's, drag queens and artists performing after the end of the parade to 7pm. The headliner for the stage is international singing sensation Elvis Crespo, who has teamed up with Granda Entertainment to launch a tour in support of equal rights for the gay community. He will be performing his most popular songs along with music from his latest release, “Indestructible”.
The 3rd Annual Miami Beach Gay Pride Parade begins at noon on Saturday, April 16th at 5th Street and Ocean Drive. The parade continues along Ocean Drive, featuring festive floats and the inspiring LEGACY couples – couples who have been in committed relationships for 20 years or more. Following the parade, the Festival continues at Lummus Park, between 10th Street and 14th Street.
