You may recall Anahi from her tenure with the multi-award winning group RBD or her numerous appearances on television worldwide. Anahi is once again making headlines thanks to the release of her very first solo album. The sexy Mexicana has already hit a high note with critics and audiences as her song Mi Delirio continues to climb numerous music charts. Anahi recently chatted with me about the catchy tune, how she started singing and her love for the gay community.
Congratulations on the success of Mi Delirio. How did the song come about?
I convinced Gil Cerezo and Ulises Lozano from Kinky to work with me. We all agreed that we wanted write something crazy and sexy. Well, we did! This is the first song I‘ve ever written and thanks to Kinky it came out great!
What can we expect on your first solo debut album?
I want it to be a mirror of my soul. I want to show people who I am. Hopefully it reaches a lot of hearts throughout the world and makes people smile.
When did you realize that singing was for you?
I was two years old. My sister was on a TV show. I grabbed a brush and started dancing to the music behind the scenes. The producer saw me and suggested I be in the show. It was called Chiquilladas. There’s actually a YouTube video of the performance!
Who would you like to collaborate with in the future?
I want to work with Snoop Dogg! I met him at the MTV awards where he told me that we should do something together.
Is there something about you that people would be surprised to find out?
I think when people go to my show they will be surprised. I play instruments, dance, jump and fly. Laughs I do a little bit of everything.
Tell me about the special benefit’s you are doing with Granda Entertainment and Club Papi.
100% of the proceeds from my appearances at Club Papi will go to the 2010 Latin Stage at San Francisco’s Gay Pride. I am so happy that there are ways to be involved in these types of activities. Even if we contribute a little bit of money to help, it’s still something. The coolest thing is to be around my friends, the gay community. They are like family to me. Going to a gay club is like coming home! I just love it so much.
What would you like to say to your gay fans?
That you guys are the best thing in the world! I love you and I am here for anything you may need and of course to dance to Mi Delirio at the clubs!
