Adora: Teddy, are we going to Miami Beach's “Sleepless Night” arts festival on November 5th? It's such a huge event that it only comes around every two years and I don't want to miss it. It's a whole night of celebrating the arts in all of its forms, all over the beach.
Teddy: Yes! I love Sleepless Night and I'm so tired when it's over. People come from all over the world to share this special night. Octavio Campos told me his group, Campositions, is doing the Pig Show, a celebration of freedom, through the eyes of a gay pig stuck in a twisted story of the 50th Anniversary of the Bay of Pigs.
A: I hear there's going to be a great performance by “Sarruga”, a street theater group from Barcelona that designs giant man-powered monstrosities like spiders and butterflies.
T: Tim Miller, a performance artist from California who explores gay identity, will also premiere his new work called “Lay of The Land”. I want to see that.
A: So, let's start making our reservations now.
T: Sure, most street performances do not require reservations, but some indoor events do. So, we need to make our reservations soon before they're closed out.
A: And if they are, we can just check out SleeplessNight.org for information on their more than 150 events, most taking place right in the street and public spaces all over the beach. I need to start planning what I'm going to wear. Maybe I'll have something made and be part of the spectacle myself.
T: Darling, no matter where we go, we're always a spectacle!
