She's an accomplished actress, singer and entrepreneur. Fans across the globe know Thalía best for her work in a number of telenovelas, which include Quinceañera and Maria la del Barrio. However, she's also hit a high note with audiences, thanks to hits such as Piel Morena, Arrasando and those are just to name a few. It's hard to believe that her work spans an impressive three decades as she doesn't look a day over 21. After a short hiatus from the music scene, Thalía is back and from the sound of things, fans will be left wanting more.
Tell us about your new CD.
This is a completely different project because it is a CD/DVD, which was recorded live from beginning to end. It is like a mini-show with excellent musicians and spectacular songs. While planning this project, I decided that I did not want dancers, a lot of wardrobe changes or a big stage production. I wanted something simple that would allow me to get on stage wearing the same jeans, tennis shoes, makeup and hairstyle I use everyday at home, when I am with my girlfriends and my family.
How is this album different from your previous ones?
This album finds me at a stage of self-realization, balance and simplicity, and you can perceive that in the way I sing each of the songs. Also, this is an acoustic, unplugged CD that allowed me to be a true singer much more than a performer.
Much of your success is thanks to your work in the telenovela world. However, it's been some time since we last saw you in one.
Are there any plans to return?
I am constantly receiving scripts and invitations from producers to take part in their TV projects. But, until today, I have not found a character that has made me fall in love. Therefore, I am more focused on my music, my businesses, my radio show and my books. Until I find that special character that catches my full attention, I will not return to the acting world.
Of all the novellas you have done, do you have a favorite?
I really love the authenticity of “Maria la del Barrio”. That is my favorite telenovela! I really enjoyed playing her because of her rebellious ways and because she was a good-natured person.
Is there something about Thalía that people would be surprised to find out?
There are sooo many things! If I tell you all of the things that people would be surprised to find out about me, we would fill up many pages of this magazine! But, if you really want to know, I can tell you that I eat a piece of chocolate every night.
What would you like to say to your gay fans?
I would like for them to continue being as happy as they are! Of all my fans, their outlook and sense of joie de vive always injects me with massive positive energy and fun. I would like for them to continue fighting for their dreams and ideals, to never give up and to never lose hope. I want them to follow what their hearts dictate and to not listen to all of those who criticize or judge them. Because, if they know that they are not harming anybody and that they are living a happy life, the most important thing should be for them to stay true to themselves.
