What inspired you to become a DJ?
My uncle played at a very famous club in Mexico during the 80’s and he would always take me even though my parents would get upset with him. I was studying during those years, but the parties would be incredible! I saw how my uncle would play and mix discs and how the 2,000 people at the club would scream! I felt the people’s vibe and I became more interested in vinyls and players. I remember that at time, I really liked Jelly Bean Benitez, Giorgio Moroder, Frankie Knuckless , Todd Terry, Armand Van Helden and more. I think that they were the biggest sources of inspiration for the producers of our time.
What artists do you like to spin?
There are many. The good thing about playing pure house music is that there are an infinite number of possibilities from minimal, tech, progressive, tribal and electro. These genres play well off of each other. When a way is found to mix one song with others, the results can be surprising. It could be a beach house lyric with tech or tribal bases. Depending on each case, there can be thousands of possibilities that contain the perspective and sentiment that you want to express to your public.
Do you have any particular staple or song that you always play? If so, why?
Of course, everyone has a special track in their DJ sets. Mine is a remix from a talented producer from Holland, Hardwell, with his remix of Hot Stuff from the queen of disco music, Donna Summer. His remix is incredible! Another curious thing I do is produce acapella of classics that I adore, play with the musical loops and make a new mix that is very interesting and gratifying.
What is your favorite city to spin in and why?
All of the places I have played in have a special magic: Brazil, Portugal, Spain, Madeira, Colombia, Ibiza, Miami, Mexico and Peru. They all have their own enchantment. If you like what you do and express what you feel through music, I think that you take some magic to those places. I am very fortunate that in this path I have met great friends, known places that I never thought I would visit and live amongst different cultures. This has given me drive to keep moving forward.
Do you have any special performances coming up?
I will be in Miami, Saturday, October 31st on Halloween at Discotekka!
